Default Cd changer

The cd changer(xk8 2005) stop when going into road bumps, stays silence for a while and comes back again. Could this be fix without changing the unit? Thanks

Yes, this is pretty common when the car hits bumps. The CD laser head is not completely immune to vibrations/impulsive shock. So, much like a record player (if you remember those) it loses the track because the head is displaced relative to the spinning disk. When it comes back in a few seconds or shorter, it is 'fixed'.

There is a certain amount of data that can be lost without the sound stopping, but too much and it needs to find the track again.

I suppose you could further shock damp the unit by isolating the CD changer from the supports, but you'd need to play with it to determine what isolation would be effective. Unless this is happening constantly, doesn't seem worth it. Happens to me a couple of times a week, either hit a deep pothole or run over a 'traffic calming mound' at the wrong speed, fast enough and the suspension takes it, slow enough and the suspension takes it...

Default +1 to Crbass - unless....

Dale is right. Not worth it unless you’re obsessed with music and want a perfect system. Isolating the CD system with rubber-/foam instramounts in the trunk rack is possible but seems way overkill. Probably worth checking you don’t have any bad wire connections though.

People have put in Bluetooth adapters which stream music from your phone, which would avoid this CD problem altogether but would bring about its own potential problems.

Me I just added an exhaust modification so now enjoy the sweet sounds of the AJ-V8 engine.
