Marco, odds are the drive motor for the spinning of CDs has failed on you. What you are experiencing is the CD player is not being able to read any information off of a disk. Therefore, because it is seeing no data, it is assuming that there is no disk there. Now, it is possible that the laser portion has failed to, but normally you will find that the player will be really sensitive to bumps and whatnot. I wish the outcome would be better, but it is looking like you need a new CD changer.

I had a similar problem and thankfully it wasn't the main head unit in the dash. It did however, turn out to be the changer located in the trunk. My magazine cartridge was fine but I had to pay about $90 on ebay for a used 6 disc changer.

I don't know how Jaguar does it but Ford will pull a bad changer and either fix it or exchange it. The last one I had an issue with cost me about $125. This was in 2001 or so.

Default cd changer reads NO CD

You wont believe this. I found this guys repair on the internet, and gave it a try. IT worked. Ive read up on all the other posts, and most said to replace the changer or buy one on Ebay used. Once again, I also got the loading CD and then NO CD displayed on the radio. It just loaded all 6 cd's and stopped without playing. Here is the post that I found and it was simple to take out and repair. I hope this works for you and I still can't believe it WORKS !! AL in New Jersey

Bye the way, I own a 2000 Vanden Plas

Same problem on my 2000 xj8-This simple solution worked for me....try at your own risk.

Gently pull back carpeting from cd changer. remove 4 small philip head screws to remove changer. Disconnect pin connector and remove unit from trunk. remove the 6 small philip head screws from cd player casing. Gently seperate the rear of the casing (gently pry away tabs near main wire). Open the unit like a clamshell at the back of the changer. ( I opened the unit all the way up )Using a flashlight illuminate the internals. Spray a SMALL amount of lubricant (I used white lithium grease with long skinny straw attachment) onto the exposed gears and levers inside the unit. Temporarily plug unit into the wire harness and test before re-install. Repeat lubricant proceedure if "no love" and try again. My unit took two tries but then started reading and running properly ever since-I hope this works for you as this seems a common problem on this car. On a side note sold a Mercedes S-430 after spending $7000 on "maintenence" on a car with 80k miles the 2000 Jaguar XJ8 has been a much better car so far!

Default Try this link for changer issues

Try this link to NO Disc message from CDchanger. CD Disc Changer - "No Disc"

This worked for my similar issue.

If you follow all the suggestions on this post and this does not do it then you might have to get dealer service.

Default Disc changer

Well, after trying to lube up the motors with white lithium grease several times and every other trick in the book, I ended up purchasing a new disc changer from e-bay. I bought one that came from the same exact model as mine (2000 Vanden Plas) for $100, and now I have a disc changer that works. So, I suppose it wasn't an electrical problem, but a malfunction inside the changer itself. Seems typical. Also sad but true, it's too bad this model refuses to play mp3 c.d.'s.
