Change of plans
This is a continuation of the thread titled "Should I buy another XK8". Yesterday I started working on the car, 2000 xk8, thar I bought with a frozen motor. So after taking cam covers off and removing exhaust cam it looked like one valve was bent and timing chain broke. The motor was not frozen. The plan was to do a complete timing chain upgrade, replace the bent valve, reseat the valves and put it back together.
Upon tear down I found MAF sensor not screwed in just sitting in place, part load breather tube broken and repaired with electrical tape, a vacuum line from TB cut with electrical tape on the end of it to try to seal it, and when I took the left head off look what I found in the photos. The one valve was wedged between piston and head. The other is upside down in the seat. What I can see now is there is no damage to the cylinder wall.
Do you think I can fix it with JB weld? LOL.
My plan now is to put the 99 motor I have into the car after putting the timing chain kit into it. The motor with the broken valves I'll repair by getting a head off a 99 xJ8 motor, that's still in the car, and putting it on this engine. I will also have to replace the piston for that cylinder.
I was hopping to have this car going in a week or so. Now it looks like it might be a little longer.

My wife went with me when I picked it up. As soon as she saw it she said this one is mine. She doesn't ask me how much it will cost but when will it be done. It shouldn't be too expensive because I already have most of the things I need. It is going to take a little bit longer.
