Default Changing out supercharger belt question? Help

I have a 2006 XKR. I'm new to the game so I'm a little unsure of many things. My mechanic is telling me he can't just replace the supercharger belt. Jaguar doesn't make the belt anymore. He says he had to replace the entire mechanism and it's going to run $625. Does this sound right?

What entire mechanism and why? Get a second opinion!

New belt 26$:
Amazon.com: Gates K080525 V-Belt: Automotive Amazon.com: Gates K080525 V-Belt: Automotive

Can be changed even in 5 to 10 minutes (so without removing the fan assembly and tensioner).

Here is a link with more info on how to:

My dealer said the same thing and there certainly is a modified pulley system that can be fitted. Due to this, Jaguar no longer carry the older belt style. The good news is that there are after market belts available.

Some other options for you which I fitted to my car, which is the same yours. Worth doing the accessory drive belt while you are there. Easy job to do as Avos says, no need to remove fans or pipes.

Thanks for all the responses. I talked to my mechanic again. I had heard a squeal or squeaky sound when I was driving and I asked him to look into it. He tells me the sound was coming from the pulley system and replacing will fix it. To replace it he needs to replace it all if he stays with jag parts.

When I replaced some belts and hoses a few months ago I did remove the radiator fans. It wasn't that hard or time consuming, but made the job so much easier. I'm not sure if the '06 bonnet has the same "service" position as mine, but if it does, that makes a surprising difference as well.

I changed both belts and all pulleys except for one: I couldn't find the idler pulley for the SC belt. Does anyone have a source for that one? That would help Chris out as well.

Chris: I too believe that $625 is way over the top; even with pulley replacements. The belts were the most expensive individual items; the pulleys were less. You can do this yourself with basic tools.
