Cheap arse plastics in the xk8
If the people at Jaguar want to look at how a quality car is built, they should just look to Lexus. A LS Lexus is 100% more the luxury car than a jag. There are some that are 22 years old now and still in one piece (no crumping plastic, no mandatory replacing plastic parts for metal) and running well.
It can be done. And when you get upwards of $70,000, I expect a car to be made of the absolute best materials. A Kia, not so much

As a previous owner of two Lexus's SC300 and LS400 they do run well but the plastics crack, wood finishes deteriorating, LED's fading out, plastic radiators cracking, etc.. We did use these cars for everyday use. I don't use my Jag everyday, and it's garaged most of the time, But I haven't had only two plastic pieces break, The radiator hose spacer type clamp otherwise all of my plastic in good shape.

Funny thing is, when you get a car that has no little nit picky things and everything is perfect and refined, then it somehow looses its "soul."
A new Lexus is a very nice car. Nothing much to change..nearly perfect and very refined...but alas it is a souless wonder.
And for the record I don't see any 22 year old Lexus' around that are in great shape. Most fall into the hooptie category. And many that are as old as my car (an '02) don't look near as good with their opaque oxidized headlights, cracked seats and fading tailights.

Regarding broken clips or plastic tubes/hoses for windshield washer and plastic clips. Had 2 broken and instead of replacing i drilled out broken tube from clip. Cut a piece of plastic tubing{ from caulking {foam] cartridge } inserted in clip {super glued} . Expanded washer tube { warm water} and inserted it on plastic tube insert.
In both cases it was not necessary to remove clips that are fragile at very best.
