Gents,

I'm looking to replace my brake light switch to see if it will fix the cruise control on my 2000 XK8. Its part #SLS503 and is $107 at Rock Auto. I've seen posts where guys have quoted getting them cheaper. Any ideas?

There have been a couple of threads where just the micro switches were replaced at a cost of a few dollars, but I'm not sure the search engine will be much help in finding them.

Sometimes a used one comes on ebay, but no telling how long it will last.

 

I replaced just the 2 microswitches on mine. Cost about $7 for both including shipping. The actuators on the new switches were slightly different but with a little creative bending they worked fine. The worst part was laying on my back with all the dust and crap from the sound deadening material falling in my eyes and face while trying to undo the one screw. You only have to just loosen the 2nd one as the plate the switches is on just has a slot and you can slide it out. I didn't take the seat out like some people do but I am only 5'5 so I was able to sort of fit under there. Then it didn't fix the problem which in my case turned out to be the ECM.
