Default "Check Engine" warning light

The amber "Check engine" light came on the other day on my 2001 XKR convertible and having checked oil, water etc I have run the car for a few miles with no problem.
Following advice in this forum I obtained a Diagnostic scanner-Memo scanner cost £12.00.
This gave the following error code P1646- fuel pump relay fault
and P1111- ECM module fault
I haven't erased these yet as I would like to ask for help from this forum to find out what they mean and what is need to correct them.
Car does not seem to be running any differently from normal.

P1111 is not a fault code, it means "Emission Monitors Complete".

When you Erase the Codes, the P1111 will change to P1000 (Emission Monitors not Complete). After a number of Driving Cycles, P1111 will return.

P1646 is thought to be mis-labeled. It's actual meaning is ECM HO2S Control Malfunction A Bank, Upstream. (From the 2000 DTC List)

Defined as Upsteam Oxygen Sensor 2 Heater Failure.
or Oxygen Sensor 2 Short or open circuit, or ECM Fault.

P1671 is probably the correct code for Fuel Pump 2 Relay Fault (From the 2000 DTC List)

You can check the Fuel Pumps by pulling the Pump Relays and carefully Jumpering the 2 socket contacts that are Opposite each other and also Perpendicular to each other. With the engine off and in a quiet place you can hear the Pump running.

Default Fault Codes

Thank you for your reply.
I quoted the fault relating to the codes from a list supplied by the supplier of the Diagnostic tool.
They are obviously wrong and wonder if I can obtain a list relating to my 2001 XKR?
Thanks

+1 to Paul's concise explanation of your codes.

Don't rely on the description list from your scantool supplier. Use the Jaguar DTC list.

Jaguar_AJ27.pdf

The descriptions from generic or online lists are often very misleading.

Absolutely David! Go to the very top of this subforum area, look for the FAQ - DYI thread. In that thread, you'll find a link to download the JTIS and how to install it onto a hard drive. It allows you access to not only every electrical schematic and DTC code for your car, but also removal and replacement instructions for most parts. It also has other good information regarding the vehicle's systems, in case you want to understand them better.

So I have the P1646 code too and when my mechanic saw ECM...he mentioned the dreaded "D" word (dealer).

What should our next steps be to isolate whether it is the ECM or the oxygen sensor.

Thanks in advance!
