Checking your Alarm System .. humor
I don't normally arm my alarm system, but I had an over-nighter down at Ft. Miley a week ago and turned it on before departing .. assuming I wouldn't be driving for a week or so anyway. Of course I forgot about arming it .. right? So I went down to get something out of the trunk .. just using the key. All hell breaks loose .. standing there like a deer in the headlights. Key fob is with the key .. a few seconds to regain my composure to punch the alarm off. Holy crimany Batman .. never heard That before!! Check pants .. I'm O.K.

New to the site. I have just purchased a 2003 s type 4.2. I have one key fob and a smaller secondary fob with 2 buttons on it, I think it's for the alarm. I need help as to how to set or maybe reset the alarm system, as it seems to alarm the car even if I leave it unlocked. Also, the clock memory seems to reset as well as radio presets and audio settings. Thanks for any help.

alarming situation !
I did exactly the same thing with my prior convertible, a 1999 BMW 328ic. I opened the trunk with the key and was promptly embarrassed by very loud noises in the middle of a busy parking lot on a nice sunny day with the top down. Realizing that I am somewhat forgetful now, I seldom engage the alarm system, unless I have my expensive camera or my wife's purse in the trunk.
