Default Chrome One-Piece Lug Nut Sources....

I replaced the crappy factory capped acorn-style lug nuts on our S-Type with solid one-piece lug nuts not quite three years ago. I'd like to do the same for our XK8 factory capped acorn-style lug nuts. They are not as crappy as the S-Type factory lug nuts were, but I despise all capped acorn-style lug nuts....

Has anyone found a reasonably-priced supplier who offers a good solid one-piece lug nut that will not pit or rust? I want to stay with 23mm lug nut heads so I will not have to change my factory trunk lug wrench as well....

Jon

Here is an odd bit of info that may help. On my old 05 XJR you could use a Mitsubishi Outlander Lug Nut # 455707 @ $4.80 as of Mch 20010.

Check it out for your car.

Take a look HERE

I think you will find the Mitusbishi items will be metric and the XK are UNF

I don't know what to tell you. I certainly don't want to put out a bum steer and I can't attest to the tech specs of the nuts/ bolts. All I really know is that a local Jag enthusiast here in FL swears by the info.

A visit to Jon's local Mitsubishi dealer with a saw buck is a cheep way to sort it out says I.

Sorry I did not make myself clear enough, I am pretty sure the XJs are metric threads 12 x 1.5 but XKs are UNF so the mitsubishi nuts will not fit

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I have Mitsubishi solid lug nuts (designed for the Chrysler Sebring) on our S-Type and they've done quite well in nearly three years of usage. But they are metric and the if the XK8 requires UNF, I doubt if Mitsubishi makes any for this application....

Can someone confirm the XK8 lug nut specs?

Just got off the phone with our local Jaguar dealership parts department. They say my wife's 2006 XK8 takes a 12 x 1.25 lug nut with a 23mm head. Are you saying they are incorrect?

Is it not possible that the UK cars were fitted with UNF while the US cars were indeed fitted with 12 x 1.25? Just looking for absolute clarification before I proceed....

Jon, bring a lug nut to an Advanced Auto Parts store. Most of the stores have a lug nut fitting gauge. I am pretty sure you will find that the XK8 lug nut does not fit any of the threads on the gauge (since they do not sell 1/2" UNF lugnuts).

So the million-dollar (or euro) question apparently is: Who sells UNF 1/2" solid lug nuts in the US for what I would consider to be a reasonble price (no more than $100 for 20 lug nuts)?

Jon,
When I needed lug nuts for my XK8 I could not find any in the US. I ended up getting them from Adamesh in the UK. They are not chrome. If I remember right it was less than $100.

I may show my ignorance by asking this, but since the OEM wheels are hub centric, what would be the harm in using a tapered nut?

Dumb questions aside, what about something like:
Flat Chrome Lug Nuts 1/2-20 - 8 pcs
or
Summit Racing SUM-7540083 - Summit Racing® Lug Nuts - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I did some research on this today, it seems not surprisingly that Tony is correct the change to Metric was with the new models (X150) in 2006.
Adamesh, was was the source I came up with too and they are cheap as chips!

The shanks look awfully short on the Adamesh supplied lug nuts. Anyone know the dimensions on the shank? (diameter & length)

I couldn't find dimensions anywhere, maybe someone can take one off and check?

Adamesh also has a pic of Jaguar nuts which are very short also.

Here are the measurements as found on the factory lugnuts used on asteroids:

LUGNUTS

1/2 x 20

shank diameter 0.7025"
shank depth 0.4230"
washer thickness 0.1285"
