chrome plastic taillight trim broken/peeling
My '06 ('05 in UK) Victory Edition XK8 Convertible has the chrome plastic taillight surround trim from the factory as they all do from this era. My right one was broken in a corner when I bought the car. I had that vinyl-wrapped which looks OK but not near as good as a new one. The other one I just noticed the chrome is starting to flake in one spot. This car does not live outside. I guess it's just age. Anyway, does anyone have a fix for this? Replacing the taillight assemblies would be hella expensive even if I could find any; the VE and 4.2-S had special smoked lenses that would be rare to find. Can these surround trim bezels be replaced?
I had the same on mine... i found some cheap flimsy "chromed" tape to put on a spot that had flaked.. looked quite ok from distance. I later replaced them both with a used pair. (when i bought my car the taillights where of different types) I bought a set from "rrr.lt" witch works fine from sweden..
for example; "https://rrr.lt/en/used-part/yag37-c2n3718-jaguar-xk8-xkr-rear-tail-lights-set"
