Default code failing to change from p1000 to p1111

I am trying to get my vehicle smogged and had to replace the battery a couple of months ago and clear spurious codes that were totally unrelated.
Currently the code reader still shows p1000 and it reads "MIL Off and Cat not ready". Anything I need to reset or just keep driving?

Is this a daily driver or weeks end vehicle? You may not have logged enough time behind the wheel for all the tests to complete if you only put minimal miles on the car with unvaried driving.

There is a battery reconnect procedure, in the sticky's I think, to allow the car to re-learn parameters without actually having to drive the car long and varied enough to allow time for it to check everything off it's list. I follow it every time I reconnect the battery, and I can definitely tell the difference, i.e. kick downs and wot etc., although finding a place to coast from 50 mph to 0 mph, one of the steps, without touching the brakes etc., can be a challenge depending on where you live.

Alan, you typically just need to drive about 300 miles after a hard reset to get everything to "complete" for a smog test. Or, you can do specific drive cycles for the specific items. Go here for the procedures:

https://www.obd-codes.com/jaguar-drive-cycle

After doing a hard reset, I like to follow this procedure for retraining windows AND throttle:

Turn ignition on, don't start.

Reset windows ("roll" up and down individually, holding switch at each position until you hear a light "click" from inside the door).

With switch in position II, (not started), slowly press accel pedal through kickdown detent to the floor & hold 5 seconds. Release pedal and repeat 1 more time.

Start engine, idle until operating temp is reached. Switch off.

Restart, idle for 2 minutes.

Apply foot brake, shift to drive, idle for 2 min.

Then, drive for 5 miles of varied conditions.

That's it. Good luck!

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp (or Light). It's a "check engine" light. "MIL Off" indicates that the MIL light hasn't come on yet because the system needs to make sure the problem is real and not a temporary glitch...

So the Cat not ready is the only thing that stills need to reset. Is there a specific road test I can do to reset this?

Catalyst Efficiency Monitor Drive Cycle:

Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature (>180 °F.)
Drive vehicle steadily between 1700 – 2500 rpm for 5 minutes.

Theoretically, that should do it. But, just to be sure, drive to the next town in a spirited manner and get some ice cream from a real ice cream store. Then drive back home in a totally satisfied manner, but hold the car in a lower gear so as to get the desired RPM for the noted period. Check your OBDII reader for errors/cleared errors. Repeat if necessary...

I guess you're in a (smog) region which does not allow your year of car to have any unset monitors? (Most allow 1 or 2 unset. Especially on older cars. Worth checking...)

Yes that is correct! I can go to the referee station if it has a software issue but I am hoping to get it to reset soon.

Did this a couple of times and for longer than 5 mins but no difference. Very frustrating! Have driven a couple of hundred miles since reset and everything was fine before.

Don't despair; at some point very soon, (assuming no actual mechanical problem), the system will declare itself ready. Drive it some more; give it another day. It may take a whole 100 more miles, but it will happen.

And next year, try to avoid a hard reset within a month of the required smog date (just speaking from my own experience...).
