Unhappy CODE- P0040 . Getting surging when its really hot

I've got a 1997 xk8. I've been getting surging when its really hot, 85+ degrees. If it cools back down, or I just on the highway...it goes away. Its def heat related. It also happen in neutral or drive, so its just the engine. The code its getting is P0010.

What is this code? I can't find much info on it. Thanks in advance!

That code is:
P0040 O2 Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 1/ Bank 2 Sensor 1

Thanks for the fast responce. So is it just the O2 sensors? How many does this car have? Is there a diagram that I can look up? Thanks

Here is what the generic description is for that code so it may mean something a little different for thr XK8 -

- HO2S Bank 1 and 2 Sensor 1 harness is open or shorted
- HO2S Bank 1 and 2 Sensor 1 circuit connectors (wrong connection)
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

So it may be a bad connection problem to the O2 sensors.

Yes, I got the same answer by googling it. I'm looking for a specific answer for the XK8. I don't want to just start throwing parts at the car, without knowing what the code stands for on this spefic model.

It likely still means an O2 sensor related problem and may be a bad connection to the O2 sensors. Wouldn't hurt to examine the wiring and the connection to them.
