I thought I would start a firestorm, with over 10 years of production world wide, more than 29,000 coupes,( a little over 60,000 convertibles) it's far from rare. The retail value of the convertibles will be higher. This has been proven consecutively since Jaguar has been making their sports cars. more convertibles where produced of XKE's than coupes. The convertibles still bring a higher retail value, as with XK's 120,140,150, and XJS's

I do like the looks of the coupe, but there is something about a convertible with the top down and cruising the curves and hiills of the countryside.
xk8 coupes total 19,748 made in 10 years..bet at least half of these have gone arount trees or scrapped for financial reasons..so we have less than 10.000 world wide..9,661 xkr coupes..same as b4 so 4,800 left...this makes them rare..xk8 and xkr convertables. a lot of these about but its rare to see one in the uk

If memory serves me correctly, '99 was the first production of the XKR, so that only 7 years when the X100 style coupe was manufactured. Jaguars are rare cars to begin with, I've never seen another XK8/R on the road and I live in (near) Dallas, TX. When we consider that the few thousand cars quoted above were distributed around the world, I would say that makes them truly rare.

I would never convert a coupe into a convertible, let alone the fact I prefer the look of the coupe, if I was it would have a folding tin top, would be very difficult to do, but interesting.
I would fit a targa top, best of both worlds.... maybe

Fitting a T56 to an XK8...... easy
