Default Tail light lens swap

Will the tail light assemblies from a 2001-2006 XK8 fit a 1998 XK8 with out having to re-wire or do body work etc.

Would I be able to use my existing taillight boards or would I need the ones for the newer assemblies as well?

I like the more modern style and the slim chrome trim and think it would give my car a more up dated look.

I am hoping for a plug and play install.

Size wise I think you'll be fine, and wiring wise you should be OK too, if not then splicing is not too difficult.

I'd go for it

It's a great conversion, but not as easy as one would like. I'm just about to get started on my own conversion, with lights and instructions provided by the spectacular Mr. Tony Murton, otherwise known in these parts as XKRacer.

There is some cutting involved, and you need new backing plates. Also, the wiring in the plugs is different, so the plugs must be reconfigured.

You can do a search and find some good information, one of the best threads is HERE.

And although I haven't asked XKRacer for permission, I don't think he would mind if I posted up the instructions he sent to me for the conversion. They're attached below.

If you want to visit Tony's shop on the web, a visit that is highly recommended, Paragon Design UK can be found HERE.

Yeah, I'm glad he lives on the other side of the pond... otherwise I don't know how much money I would have spent there. lol Even though I don't agree with all of it, his work is pretty amazing!

I had hoped it would be a simple plug & play but with a Jag, NOTHING seems simple.

A do-able project for a weekend.

No worries about putting up the brief instructions, keep meaning to do them better, once I have enough pics I will.

And just to mention, I have no intention of staying in the UK for the rest of my life, I have 2 places to go to, if I was past my owrking life then probably Australia as my wife is an aussie and we obviously have family out there, otherwise I would move to California
