Default convertible door window issue

In the cold weather of winter, my beloved 97 XK8 has started to develop a couple hiccups, nothing outrageous, but annoying nevertheless. The most obvious, and persistent of these is one with my driver side door. The roll up/down feature of the door windows when the door is closed/opened, respectively, has gone haywire. My window has never ceased to roll down that faithful 1/2 inch, but now it refuses to roll back up! This wouldn't be an issue for me, except that when I rise for work at 5am, I'm still in a semi-comatose state and when I step out to my office after my morning commute, I often forget to roll up my window and have thrice now come out to a wet driver seat at the end of my day. That being said, I'd like to take a stab at repairing it myself, as the nearest jaguar dealer to me is 210 miles away. I initially thought it to be a faulty door sensor, but quickly discarded that idea, since the interior lights and roll down feature still work when the door is ajar. Could it be part of the latch mechanism? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Two possible problems.

1. The window is out of synch. Push the up button and hold for a few seconds until you hear a click. Then push down and wait for click, then up again and click. That should take care of it.

2.The battery is weak, and a window issue is often an indicator. Go to a auto supply ie Autozone and ask them to load test the battery.

i never hear a click when resetting the windows but a weak battery is usually what trigers it.

the click is not the loudest thing you have heard before. Do this procedure in a quiet place.

When doing a window reset by sure you are in the car with the door closed.

I saw one or tow wacky window/convertible top interactions last winter during the coldest periods. Each time a "top off" with my battery charger fixed the issue. Give it a try.
