Convertible hose fitting
Need some help here.
One of my lines came off the fitting that connects to the hydraulic pump for the convertible top and I am trying to find a new fitting to connect the line back to the pump. Has any one done this before or am I going to have to replace the whole line ??
Thank you

You will need to replace the entire hose all attempts to make repairs to the existing hose has failed.

JPS, You don't say what year XK8 you have, they do vary in their problems. As far as a hose that blew off the connector. If you start looking at the hose you will see the outer shell is falling off and bits and pieces are on the floor where it goes back in the cab area on the left side of the trunk beside the gas tank.
A few different places to get the hoses, Jagrepair is a good starting point for information.

JPS, If you have a 01 in the Fl heat, there is a good chance the hoses have been replaced and you got a defective one. Which side of the pump is the problem. The short ones to the rams are easy, not so the ones to the latch in the header.

The pump solenoids have snap in electrical connections to the solenoid wiring. The usual difficulty of removing them has a very high probably of breaking the extremely fine wire of the coil as many have learned.
That doesn't mean that a qualified and knowledgeable individual did not carefully remove the connector wiring but it does call into serious question whether the resulting coils still work.
Resoldering the wires to the connector is a high precision task and the coils were never available as replacement parts.

You might consider rebuilding the ram(s) rather than used. Several have been satisfied with Top Hydraulics.

I checked the prices on ebay last year, but how long is a used one going to last?
Sending both to top hydraulics for rebuild would be my choice, and don't forget the latch could leak and they rebuild those also.

I've merged your two threads, pleas post an intro in the new members section when you can.
What did you do to fix the ram problem, it could be related.

If the pump seems dead, see the link in my sig. line below to troubleshoot it. If it's alive, you need to trace the power circuit up stream to find out why the pump is not getting power.
Good luck.
I pulled a ram of a 97 that I have parked. I just didn't realized that the Right ram is different from the Left ram.
Are you talking about the orange and blue connectors that are on the top of the pump ? or follow the white and black cable and put direct power from the battery to the pump to see if it turns ?
Thank you

Do NOT disturb the orange and blue connectors on top. Those connections are for flow-controlling valves and are easily damaged.
Apply power just for an instant directly to the pump's black and white leads, trying both polarities.
