Default Convertible not latched

Left my car with valet (top up) and when he brought it back the top was half way between up and down...not sure how he got it to that point (he didn't know and too flustered to give clear answers). I have the remote control module installed and suspect he activated it when trying to unlock car with remote and then when starting with the key interrupted the top going down...

I used the console switch and put the top up but it didn't latch. Now it will not move up or down. Rear quarter panel windows are down. Console says "Convertible not latched". Neither the console switch nor the remote module make it move (although remote module does activate the windows up/down).

Thinking my first move should be to disconnect battery and then reconnect to see if the system self-resets...thoughts?

Maybe he was operating the top and driving over a certain speed and the top movement was disabled. There is a speed threshold that prevents top movement.
You can do the 'hard-reset' with the battery and you might have to MANUALLY latch the top.

Why didn't you at least latch it manually??
Dangerous to drive with the top NOT latched.

You may need to reset the top by putting the pump in manual mode and manually stowing the top in the down position.

If you do, do not forget to put the pump back in automatic mode afterwards.

Instructions are on Gus' page: JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Thank you both. I will try the suggestions (first manually latching the top, then stowing top manually) this afternoon. Just have to find out some more details (basics - where to put the allen wrench to lock latch, etc) and re-install JTIS in this new PC...Cheers

Fixed! Solution was to manually latch the top (as suggested above - thank you). Thought I would post pictures for next newbie like me...

Default 1 - Find Allen wrench

Open trunk and remove passenger side cover exposing the top hydraulic pump.

Default 2 - Set valve to manual

Turn the valve counter-clockwise a few turns. This puts the mechanism into manual mode

Default 3 - Manual convertible top latch

remove plastic cover for allen wrench access - above rear view mirror

Turn allen wrench clockwise so latch pops up - I had to push the top up about an inch to allow latch to come up

Let top down into latch and turn allen wrench counter-clockwise for latch to lock

now close valve in trunk clockwise back to automatic operation

Presto - use console switch and it all worked.

Thank you everyone!

Default PS - JTIS page pics

Pictures from the manual for anyone that doesn't have it. I didn't have to go this far....just latching solved the problem.
