Hey all, vert top was,nt working so well so checked the fliud saw it was low added some, and investigated for a leak. nothing in the trunk, however found fliud under the rear seat (s) both left and right. when operating top, I am not finding any drips that causes the resivior to go low. any ideas?

Yes that sounds similar to the situation I had. I had hydraulic fluid on the drivers side. I ended up replacing the hydraulic lift on that side.
Fairly easy to do by removing the seat cushions, side panels and speakers.
Lower the top and reduce pressure in the system by turning the handle on the pump counterclockwise
Fill up the new hydraulic tube before installing it. Fluid I used was Pentosin CHF - 11S. Probably should also replace the O-rings in the line attachment fittings
I also installed a 0.22ohm 100 watt resistor on the white electrical wire to the pump as others have suggested. This reduces the pump speed and thereby lowers the peak hydraulic pressure in the system which reduces hose and seal failure.
When all is installed turn the pump handle back to its original position and raise the top. Fill the reservoir to the proper level.
I noticed that with the resistor installed the motor stops just before the latch closes. However letting up on the switch waiting a second or two and then pushing the switch completes the latching cycle,
All is well so far.
Hope this was informative.

Check with www.jagbits.com Thay have a left side lift #HJB8255AA and a right side #HJB8254AA listed under the XK8-XKR catagory.
These are OEM parts thus a bit pricy. You might check with them to see if they have or can get a good used set.
Also when you have your seat and speaker out wipe off the lifts and connections and then run the top up and down to see where the leaks are. Maybe a hose connection has worked loose. A thought.
