Default convertible top not working

I am new to this so I am asking for help. My 2000 XKR convertible top stopped working two years ago and I want to try and get it working again. I have just replaced the battery. Did not help. I used to take the battery out in winter and keep it on the charger till spring, I do not know if that effected the electronics in the car buy doing that or not. When I push the top down button the rear windows do go down but nothing after that happens. If any one out there can help I would surely appreciate it. I have had this car for 12 years and I enjoy it very much. Thank you

Hi rglgmg58,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

The first thing I would suggest is that you check the level of the hydraulic fluid in the pump reservoir. It is mounted behind the carpeted trim panel on the right side of the trunk. Low fluid due to one or more leaks is one of the most common causes of an inoperative convertible top.

To begin your education, study the documents with "Roof" in their title at this link:

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Also, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post an introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don
