Default Coolant leak at torque cap

I have a coolant leak at the cap which has a hex slot ( says "torque" on the cap). Is there a simple replacement or fix?

Welcome any recommendations!

Buy a new cap they are under $10.00 us. The plastic is rotting and you should consider replacing the whole cooling tower.

Default Thermostat cap leaks

I just received the cap and have replaced it. However, it still dribbles from the front. Is there a tape (like the teflon tape used in plumbing) that might help?

Thanks

I also had coolant seeping from under that cap.

My mechanic took off the old plastic cap and saw that the rubber gasket was deformed. He replaced it with a new cap and no more seeping

Now the coolant level stays high and no warning lights!

Drive that brilliant Jag often.

You should have gotten a new seal with the new cap make sure it is seated flush all around. If you need a pipe dope permatex does make one.

Also for anyone replacing the cooling tower. I used a flexible ratchet and filed the plastic manifold enough to get the ratchet on it.

The 10mm Allen slot in the top of the cap sure is inviting but loosening it that way is guaranteed to break 10+ year old plastic. A rubber strap wrench is the better way to apply torque.

The original Jaguar procedure for refilling the 1997MY was to remove the Breather Cap (item 1)

This procedure was revised in later MY's when the second return pipe from the Expansion Tank to the Radiator was deleted and it was no longer necessary to remove the Cap.
