Default Coolant pressure

I believe that my coolant pressure is high. I am leaking out of the thermostat in and out of the octopus holes I replaced both thermostat and octopus hose fitting within the lasts 4 year. Will this be due to the fact that I might need a new water pump .

Mike,

but 0 Replies as I write this. Did you wonder why?

It must be an XK8 - you've posted here. However:

1. could be Normally Aspirated or it could be Supercharged.
2. could be anything from a 1997 4.0 litre to a 2005 4.2 litre.
3. could have had a history of overheating.

Cooling system issues are a regular on the Jaguar V8 models and I know many members have plenty of experience and will have relevant advice.

Perfect example of why we ask members to add vehicle details to their forum Signatures.

I will fix the signature today. I thought it was there. However it is a 2003 XK8 4.2 naturally aspirated engine no history overheating but I'm always chasing a leak. This time it was worse than the others.

Mike, take it to your store Advance/Autozone or what ever and get them to put a pressure test on it. I think they need to use the green cap in the kit. It has to be for the Jaguar or the pressure will go into the overflow tank. With any luck at all you can see where it's coming out and rectify.

The reservoir cap limits the maximum pressure, but chances are you just have a leak.

You should also use an OBDII reader and make sure your operating temperature does not exceed about 215 degrees F.
