Default Coolant top hose random issue

Hi have had this vehicle 8 years and about 18 months ago the top hose just popped off the engine at the top front. I checked the clip (worm thread type not sure if it’s original or replacement) reset the hose and made sure it was on tight. It did the same thing one more time and since then I have had the water pump replaced when there was a pressure and leak test done and all was well. Then I had to replace the cracked expansion tank. This was all several months ago and this evening after running a few errands I pulled into the garage, no steam or smells and then went back about an hour later to see all the coolant on the ground and lo and behold the top hose had blown off again. When I say blown off, the end was sitting back about 3” from the engine so it’s not like it just wiggled loose. Also it must have happened after I walked away from the vehicle or I would have smelled it and/or seen the steam. What’s so random is that I have done 4hour trips on the freeway without stopping and without issue and then I run some errands and the hose blows off! Is pressure building up somehow? If I had head gasket issues I think it would have other symptoms too?

You are not the first with this problem. Replace the water pipe AJ85885, the plastic degrades over time.

Thanks, I get the plastic deteriorates and probably cracks and leaks but not sure how this would affect the hose coming off. Does it restrict the coolant flow internally or something? It would have to constrict a whole bunch to do that?

I had this problem on my x308. I found that the tube had lost the retainer lip on the plastic pipe. The very end of the pipe is supposed to have a register area that is larger the the pipe itself and once the hose is inserted over it and the clamp is in place the clamped hose can not slid over it. Try going to www.sngbarratt.com , click on find parts and take a look at what a new one looks like compared to the you have.

Ok thanks, is this the part that sits horizontal to the engine or the vertical pipe that some have replaced with an aluminum version?
