Default Crankshaft Position Sensor (1996 XK8 4.0)

Hi All,

I am in Perth, Western Australia. Getting XK8 parts locally seems to be an absolute nightmare. The CPS is the perfect example.

Mine is this type - a single 8mm bolt with a dual wire about 200mm long with a black plastic connector attached at the end. ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...ensor&_sacat=0 )

However, I can only locally source a sensor that has no wire with a twin probe connector attached.(ie this link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16368776...3ABFBM5tPrh9dk )

Does anybody else have a part number for the wired example please? The only place I can find one is on ebay UK used using the link above.

Thanks,

James

Your link shows this part as new. Is this not correct?

The AJ26 has a wire and connector that plugs in behind the PAS pump.

The AJ27 is the one with the connector at the sensor itself.

When I worked at the dealer I used a the AJ27 CMPS to test sensors by cutting an old AJ26 wire and fitting a connector from the AJ27 to the end.(basically a extension cord)

The sensors are the same except for the connectors.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
RichardS - looking closer it does not match my 96.
Motorcarman - I think you are correct as mine has the connector next to the PAS pump (AJ26). That seems like a plan with the extension lead. Now to find another connector to make the double switched extension lead. ----> does anybody have a spare they do not want and I can pay the postage etc?

Thanks,

Thanks,
That's very strange as the part you linked to has the flying lead which is correct for the 1996 XK8 which must be fitted with an AJ26 engine. The fitment chart says that it fits the 1996 XK8 4.0.

It would be useful if you could indicate why it does not fit your AJ26 as that is the same engine as I have and, from the description, I would have bought that part.

FWIW, here's the parts catalogue take:

LCA1640AE is the one with the connector on a flylead.

VIN 031303 was the intro of the AJ27 motor
