Default Crazing on my front fender paint and starting on the hood.

I've tried to ignore fine cracks in my paint on the front fenders but my recent detail job made them more pronounced. I usually use black wax and it minimizes them but it looks like a new paint will be necessary. (Ill be waxing this morning!! Can't stand them!)
What's up with this? I had a 2004 x type that did the exact same thing. I've never had it with any other jaguar color I've owned, only black. (And seems its the early 2000 cars)
It looks like cross hatches in the paint!! I'm sure mine isn't the only one out there and to have two different models do the same thing is really frustrating. My body shop says it has to go to bare metal since its not the clear coat. Had to do the same thing with my x type.
Then, do I bite the bullet and paint the whole car? Is this going to happen on the rear?

After being in the collision repair business, most people are unware of how may new cars have been touched up, before they hit the show room floor. I've seen hail damaged vehicles sold as new, brake fluid and coolant leaks on the the cars underneath on the car haulers, and numerous dents dings scratches. I know one person that bought a new Astro van. that had serve hail damage and the dealer repaired and repainted, it sold it new. When he found out he contacted the States Attorney and was told that the dealers could do that, and not disclose it to the buyer. This was Illinois.

Same deal here. I have had checking on three different Jaguars (1 X300 and 2 X308s) on the hood and the roof. The X300 was repainted (Sanded past the checks into the primer) but they came back in a year or so.

I use black wax after my final coat of good wax to hide it. I often wonder if it is from washing it when it is hot outside? A friend in the body shop business said the only way to ensure they do not come back is to sand to metal and get past them.

When I had my X type, I had the hood and fenders repainted. We found that it went all the way through the primer so had to do a full bare metal paint on those three sections. $$$$$
My new body shop says the same thing. But oddly enough it's only the black cars and usually only the front. Fenders and hood! He's done two other black early 2000 jags as well.
As for the black wax, I use it as well and the black scratch stick really does the best. I literally act like a 3 year old and color the whole area, then wax, then buff off both. It fills the cracks.

Phil I have this problem. It's more than clearly visible in the passenger front fender and passenger door. The bonnet is starting to exhibit signs of it and so is the boot. I hope to have enough money in a year or two have the car painted, all of it.

It's not just the Black cars. My '98 XK8 conv. BRG has it on the drivers front fender and terrible road rash on the bumper and hood. This is after a complete respray 3 years ago. I'm willing to bet the crazing and road rash was there and they just painted right over it. I went for cost on the paint job and got what I paid for. 1/2 price of all the other places around. Saving the pennies to get it done right. This is my daily driver with 115K on her. Jack
