Crazy Electrics
Hi All,
Went to use my 97 XK8 the other day after it being not used for several weeks and when it was fired up all the lights inside and out flashed brighter and dimmer continuously and the engine does the same. then the engine and lights settle down, but at the same time the battery volt meter inside on dash goes of the scale. at the same time the gearbox and traction control come up as faulty.
Have put meter on battery, Initially when lights go crazy meter reads everywhere between 12-13. then it goes right up to 17-18 volts.
codes coming up are as follows P1793 and Mode A, Mode 3, and Mode7. Im thinking alternator causing some sort of electrical surge affecting the gearbox but really do not know.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.
Thanks
Steveeasy

Hi,
Thanks both for such swift responses. Well several weeks ago I did have a flat battery after the car not being used for a while. I did put a booster on it, started fine. battery seams fine now, Could it have been my fast charger that has caused damage to the alternator ?,
Thanks
