Cruise control
Gentleman, I’ve learned a lot from this forum but I’ve not been able to find an explanation for the cruise control recent antics on my 97 XK8.
The cruise control won’t stay on for more than 30 sec before it quits and the engine fault light comes on. If I stop, turn the ignition off and restart the car, the fault light goes off and all is well until I try to engage the cruise control again. The ODB code reads P1111 the whole time. Any suggestions?

I am assuming LHD. On the passenger next to the throttle body a small vacuum hose that affects the cruise control. When I did my valley hoses that one got knock off it fitting and I had that same message and problem. Start there and let us know.
Ah! You beat me to it Vern
.
Tony, check your engine mounts. When mine needed replacement, this occurred because of excessive engine movement.
Open hood. Start car, stand on brake, put in drive, rev her up. You'll see the movement if mounts are bad.
BTW, having the silencer detach from air filter box is another symptom.

Thanks for the photo.. my pipe is connected. I’m assuming that is a vacuum hose. So I need to investigate further. I assume that means taking off the pass side wheel and inside wheel cover off. But, I’m not sure what I’m looking for.

P1111 is what you always want to see reported as it signals all the emissions checks have passed.
Do you mean the little engine icon or a message in the dash message centre?

The hose your searching for is located on the the throttle body elbow half way down and close to the intake manifold. It connects to the vacuum bottles. First remove the intake snorkel for a good view. The search for an open tube on the throttle body or a small cracked hose. It isn't the tube to the control canister.
