Default Dashboard passenger air vent removal / repair

Hi a simple ( I hope) but annoying problem...one of the louvers in the passenger air vent has come loose (probably caused by a passenger fiddling about!) when I tried to re-position it the louver above came loose and so on... so now only a couple are working! It looks as if the rod at the back that connects the louvers at has begun to become unclipped. How do I remove the air vent so that I can work on it more easily as I am sure it's going to be a fiddley job. Does it just prise out of the dashboard or is it a more complicated procedure to get it off? Many thanks for any replies!
Cheers Keith

Hi, you need to remove the center wood panel first, use a small hook or narrow small screw driver and prive from left bottom corner and work you way around the perimeter, the panel is held in by four clips one in each corner. Once that is removed the air register will come out. Pretty easy work once you get the hand of it. Do not force, just apply even pressure and pull out.
Good Luck and
Happy motoring...

You didn't mention if it was the center vent or the far side, triangle shaped one.

If it's the center, Vettegood is spot on. If it's the far side, the wood trim laps under the airbag panel so you have to remove that first. It just snaps in place and you can usually open the glove box and get your fingers under the bottom of it.

It's not part of the airbag, so there is no risk.

Hi again
Brilliant!
Thanks for the replies and advice! I will have to wait for better weather...typical bank holiday here...rain rain rain.
Yeah sorry I forgot to say that it is the vent near the passengers door, not the centre one.
I will give it a go even though I'm wary of touching anything to do with airbags!

Many thanks again.

Corner vent won't bother the airbag. Do be careful of the little metal clips that hold the wood trim in, they can be very sharp.
