Default Dashboard trim cleaner

Was wondering how you guys clean the dash trim which I believe is some kind of compressed leather. For the wooden part I've been using a very mild soap solution. Is there a better method for the wood part?

This question was asked on another car forum that I frequent and the overwhelming response was "Magic Eraser".

I went out and purchased it and couldn't be happier with the results. It also works well on the veneer followed by a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth. I use it on the dash, door panels and steering wheel. Does a great job on the leather seats just before applying leather conditioner.

Cheers,

Stu

One thing I've learned about detailing is you never use anything 'dry' either on the interior or exterior. Even wiping dust off the paint dry will leave microscopic scratches. There is a detailing forum on this site you might want to check out.

As far as Magic Erasure Read this link, you're basically sanding the dirt away, which regardless of the materiel will leave some form of scratches.
If you use one you should use some form of lubricant with it ie your fav interior polish or what not.

The dash top is plastic molded to look like leather. Same with the door tops.

I use a damp microfiber cloth on the "fluffy" side for the interior. Gets dust out of switches and gauges pretty well.

If something is really dirty, simple green and a toothbrush is a great degreaser for small spaces.

Heat and sun are an issue here for me, so I follow-up with a coating of 303 aerospace protectant. It seals the vinyl/plastic and blocks the damaging UV rays. It is available in most marine or boat stores.
