Default Daytime running lights on an 03

Wondering why we don't have them and if there is a way to reprogram so we can?

Hi.

On my -97 it's programmable with WDS/IDS. You will find it under "dealer options".

If you have, or know someone who has the dealer scan tool, then it's in one of the menus.

If not, then it's a trip to the dealer.

Thanks, sounds like a dealer trip. For some reason it bothers me not having them.

I installed a switch to have my front fog lights on anytime the car is running. Very easy to do, the indicator light comes on on the stock switch and if I turn off my installed switch the factory switch stills works the same as stock. I even found a rocker switch that fits the empty air vent hole on the lower left dash beside the valet button perfectly, looks stock.

If interested reply and I'll provide details.

Funny thing. I can understand "wanting" DRL in places where it is warranted like the northern climes where it might be dusky but here in sunny SoCal this is a feature I would want to turn OFF rather then on.

Well my thought is I drive a light green car in a tropical climate. It's difficult to see with a low profile so the lights increase my visibility and decreases my chances of some fool pulling out in front of me.

I've wired the front fog lights on all my cars as well as installed low mounted lights on my motorcycle for the same reason.

This air vent hole?

If so, what did you do with the AC Sensor Aspirator that fits behind it?

I'm interested. I would much rather have my fog lights on instead of headlights. Looks much better.

Yes but on a left hand drive the AC Sensor is on the right and the valet is on the left with an extra vent hole next to it where the adaptive CC switch would be if installed.

Attached is a photo of the switch I installed. Looks like the factory installed it. I put in a lighted switch with a blue LED just for the heck of it but as the light on the factory switch also comes on the blue LED bothered me at night so I disconnected it. The blue reflected in my window exactly where the mirror is an I kept thinking a cop was pulling me over. I'll do a quick wright up of how to wire it later tonight.

OK see attached and photos. All you are doing is switching a ground to the Orange with green stripe wire on the white connector under the engine fuse box. As we are just switching a ground you can't hurt anything. When the switch is on anytime the key is in position 2 the Fog lights will be on and the little yellow light on the console fog light switch will be on.

In my state it is illegal to have fog lights on when the high beams are on so when driving at night be aware that as long as the new switch is on your fog lights will not turn off with the high beams. The console fog light switch still works normally to turn on the fog lights when the lights are on.

The easiest way to get a wire to the dash is to thread it thru the firewall connector as shown in the picture. This comes out inside the car just behind and above the hood release.

I found the switch for the dash at O'Reilys Auto Parts

So if I don't care about a switch all I have to do is run the orange w/green to ground. Easy enough. Thanks.

Hi Lox, I can see your point. I run with the front and rear fog lamps on. See and be seen. Rich

Does anyone know if this is a option on a 02? I just made friends with a local indie, he's worked at Jag for 25+ years and now runs his own little shop and has a WDS setup, I'd ask him to set my DRL if it was a option. He would probably know but I don't want to bother him uselessly.

I think the 4.2 liter X100 will be able to be configured under 'Dealer Options'.

The 4.0 X100 is 'hard-wired' for DRL as far as I know.

The Dealer Options is under the WDS/IDS Vehicle Config tab.
You can look there but I think it is the same as the X308 (not a selectable feature).

You can configure X200, X400, X350 and the later X100.

I am here to correct myself.
The X100 CAN be configured to Scandinavian OR Canadian DRL.

The REST OF WORLD headlamps will disable the DRL.

I just tried it on a 2001 XKR in the shop.

SORRY for the mixup.
