Default Dead Battery - Auxiliary Fuse Box

My battery is dead and I need to re charge it. Can't open the trunk. My key does not work when I insert it into the "XK8" emblem. I knew this prior but never had a chance to fix it or free it up. Can I jump the car from the terminals on the fuse box in the engine bay? Or, should I only use a trickle charge on that terminal?

You can jump it but I always leave the batteries connected for a minute or two before trying the starter. Think someone told me that when I was 16 and I never bothered to change.

What test point said. Although, as soon as you put power on those terminals you should be able to open the trunk electrically.

Best practice would be to get the trunk open and then move the jumpers to the battery before engaging the starter.

There is a 250 amp fuse in the circuit leading to these terminals. That's probably enough with all but the deadest of batteries, all but the coldest of conditions. The car *can* be jump started from these terminals, but this should be a last resort; only if there's no way to get into the trunk.

If forced to go this way, as test_point said, best to leave the jumpers connected for a few minutes before engaging the starter.

You can Charge the Battery using the Terminals in the Engine Bay. Then you can open the Trunk Electrically. Do not attempt to Start the car from the Engine Bay Terminals:
