Default Dead radio...

I got into my 1997 XK-8 today, went to turn on the radio and nothing. Got home and opened the trunk to look at the fuses. It's somewhat of a puzzle to tell exactly which one is for the radio. Does anyone know exactly which one to check or is it possible that it's something else? Oh yes, it's been a while since I visited this forum, I'm sure there is a whole new group. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Steve. I pulled the fuses and checked them with a meter. They are both good. Any good ideas on what to check next?

I just got an e-mail from my Jag mechanic and he said that it's probably toast. I'll eventually want it replaced or repaired if that's possible. I'm sure he'll let me know.

Drove the car today and the radio works. No idea why it stopped almost a year ago and now it starts working again. Hope it stays that way, not getting my hopes up. Starting to remind me of the weird electrical issues I had with the '86 XJ6 I had for 14 years and sold 11 years ago to get the XK8.

Jim,
I have had the same problem with MY 97 XK8 twice now and the fix was to insert a cassette tape... somehow that brings everything back to life. Another member told me that the tape player bypasses the on/off button. Thanks to that member (don't remember who) and it has worked for me.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to answer. After I posted the other day I did a search and happened to see a post related to that exact "fix". Weird thing about my radio is I didn't have a cassette, I just happened to push the button to turn it on and to my surprise it worked! I'll have to keep a cassette in the car in case it happens again. I rarely drive this car but when I do, sometimes it's nice to have a radio. Last year I only put just over 300 miles on it. Total mileage is 42K and it has never been driven in the rain.
Thanks again, Jim
