Default Control module

Control module blacks out after a minute or so after strating the car. What to do about this?

COPIED FROM POST #3 byGGG
It is the XK 4.2 built in 2003. After starting the car the touch screen of the console (is that the word?) that controls audio, climate, phone, navigation, et cetera, lights up and works fine, but after a minute or so the screen goes to black and the thing doesn’t work anymore. After pushing the on/off control 3 times it flashes on again and works briefly, but then it goes to black even quicker.

Car details?

Which module?

Commonly, the shorter a problem post the less chance anyone has of providing a useful reply.

Welcome to the forum Tjerk,

I've moved your question from S-Type to XK8/XKR forum. This the place to post technical questions about your model.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Tjerk, could you verify that you have a 2003 Jaguar XK8 or XKR with a touch screen in the console? If so, the touch screen must have been a modification by a previous owner. Or do you have a 2007 or newer (maybe 2006 in Europe) Jaguar XK with a touch screen?

Aahh, I just checked and it's from 2006, not from 2003. My mistake!

If the OP is in Europe, his 2006 model would be a 2007 model here in the states....

Yes, my 2006 XK 4.2 is European and so I believe it is the same as the US 2007 model.

Try asking your question in the forum for the X150 XK, where people familiar with your vehicle are more likely to hang out:
