Default Dealer service visit cost $30!

I was amazed when the dealer service rep told me the total service cost for my 2001 XK8 was only $30. I didn't expect to leave for less than $100-150.

Much better than I expect at most dealerships. I once had a different dealer try to charge me a $100 diagnostic fee for giving me a part number for the dashboard vent and confirming I needed it which is what I had told them in the first place.

After a friend curbed my XK8, I took it to the local dealer for a 4 wheel alignment. They put it on their machine, checked out everything and provided me with a detailed report - No Charge!!!

There are some decent dealers left in the world. Tulsa Land Rover - Jaguar is one of them.

I think a lot depends on whether they have some old timers in the service dept who know these cars.

What was the service? No parts or fluids involved, I assume?

It was the charge for telling him how much a service would be.

Installing a non-OEM antenna mast that I couldn't install even though I had done it before.

As I said, another dealer tried to charge me $100 for that "service".

Kinda restores a little faith in humanity, doesn't it? :^) My late wife and I had an expression we used when ever we dealt with service shop or merchant. "Everybody's a LIAR"!!!!
We've lost count on how many BS stories we got when shopping for any service or product. Let's not even get into the politicians!! They all want to take you for all they can.
So I say find some things to give that dealer some business. They are one of the few good ones. TM
