Dude Ford has done wonders for jaguar. Prior to Ford's purchasing of jaguar in 1990 jaguar was going down hill fast, the company was only worth around 500 million dollars, and Ford overpaid for it. I have read a quote from a history of jaguar book that in 1993 when the jaguar plant was inspected that it was considered the worst car plant outside of Russia.
Jaguar's were known as unreliable cars, and the company was about to be through. Ford allowed jaguar to stay in business, and ford helped build quality cars. You S type and the X type are the sole responsiblilty of Ford, and those are quality cars, and most people will agree that the Xjs and Xks of recent years are amazing cars.

Well then its about time the thread was updated.
However, you're about ten years off. Ford announced the sale of Jaguar to Tata Motors on March 26, 2008, not in 2018.

I said 12 years, thats close enough, it was another who said it was in the last year or two. Originally Posted by pdupler

Now I certainly don't care for all the Jaguar models produced under the Ford ownership, but as a whole, the Ford money was helpful, imho.

It’s not understating that British electrical wiring was terribly unreliable and Ford definitely improved that.
Yeah, Ford’s bean counters also looked to make savings with plastic parts in later models, so that’s a minus but essentially Ford saved Jaguar from going bankrupt.

David,
Ford immediately did away with the use of Lucas Electronics and went to one of the German Company's for all their Electronics....best thing that happened in the deal!

This 2007 XKR model is a beauty. Imagine a vehicle with the combination of the design of the GT500 Ford Shelby and this XKR model. Imagine this as a hybrid vehicle....
You were ten years early - they skipped the hybrid and went straight to a fully electric vehicle, the iPace (built in Austria, not the UK).Originally Posted by ;9073

Interestingly they are doing a hybrid version of the Range Rover, but no Jaguars AFAIK.
