Surely it shouldn't be making any noise unless it thinks someone's stealing it? Are you having a problem with it going off?

Are you trying to disable the SYSTEM or just the SOUNDER?

The sounder is in the front RHS wheel well, below the headlamp. You can see it if you remove the access panel in the liner.

The horns do most of the work if the car thinks it's being assaulted, but there's no way I'm aware of to stop that other than leaving the car unlocked or disabling/muffling the horns. Your insurance co. would not be impressed, though.

PITA really as nobody give a hoot if they hear a car alarm these days.

Well the horn alarm is a lot louder than a modern vehicle horn. They do bother if they are working nights or if is on a campsite at 3 am. But the advice is welcome

I assume you have the alarm going off unexpectedly, so maybe look for the cause of that? I've never had any problems with random alarm activation, so there must be something wrong if yours is going off to the extent that you need to disable the sounder. Bear in mind that if you have an electronic problem that is the cause you should really try to find it before you have other problems or the car just immobilises itself.

Indeed, I really meant that the idea is of dubious value these days due to the number of false alarms de-sensitising people.

Mine had to sleep outside for a period a few years back. It would complain bitterly in hail - which would invariably happen around 4 A.M.- so I do get your point about nuisance.

The dealer software can change the alarm settings including disabling it. One can also make it a silent arm and disarm.

many independents have the software as well as forum members. The dealer might not charge that much as a courtesy. Sometimes it is as simple as hanging out at the shop doors around lunch break and chatting up a technician. Lots of them love the older cars and have old scan equipment at home for their side jobs, hint.

If you don't care if the horn works you can also disconnect the horn connector. I'm not sure where the horn is though. I haven't seen it while crawling around under the car but it's got to be up front somewhere. I'm sure if you set off the alarm and follow the sound you'll find it soon enough.
