Default Do I have a Battery problem???

Jag has been sitting a few days, got to 28 last night, car garaged (detached) went to start today and it did but while cranking the batt. gauge needle went down near the RED, real close. That can't be right?? Sign that battery is weak?

Batteries are best tested under load at the local auto parts store with their multi-test equipment. Who knows what the Jaguar dash meters are supposed to read while cranking. Jaguar owners have no need for such detailed information.

ha ha ha. Well I never "recall" it going so far to the left of center where it always sits. It was about at the white line before going into the red. With my various burps with the car of late I suspect the batt is with issue.

Chances are that the battery will be a future problem. You should go and get it checked! Any good battery supplier (Sears, AutoZone, Etc) will be able to do it while it is in the car.

Battery capacitiy drops with temperature, that's why cold temperatures kill weak batteries. Some general information.

You can usually tell a weak battery when you start it. It just doesn't have that quick start feel even though it starts. Mine is weak now because it doesn't get driven much in the cold weather. Warm weather is in view, hooray!!

Well it's been in the garage like it always is and I have not had a slow turnign over motor since that one time after it sat for like 3 days. It has sat a few times for 2 days, once when it got down to 28 degree's but it cranked over like normal. Short in battery? Terminals on battery are clean and new looking. Where do they come out at motor? Starter and ??

The engine compartment battery terminals are next to the two fuse panels, each a covered bolt. Have you measured the battery voltage under starter load? If it goes below 10v, even if the starter will turn the engine, the electronics get squirrely.

Also check the grounds.
