Does anyone know what these connectors are and why they are loose ?
Hello fellow Jaguar enthusiasts,
This is my first post on this forum. I wonder if anyone can tell me what the two connectors on the enclosed pictures are. They are located behind the throttle box (on the pictures, the throttle box has been removed.)
I tried to put my 1997 XK8 (Rosamund) back on the road after the winter, and the engine was running extremely rough. I (barely) managed to take the car to a Jaguar specialist (allegedly !) who changed the coils and the spark plugs. That fixed the problem ... for 24 hours ! Then the problem returned, with me £1500 poorer.
On close examination, I noticed there was two connectors behind the throttle box that were not connected to anything. So my questions are :
1 - Does anyone know what these connectors are supposed to be connected to ?
2 - Do you think the fact these connectors are not connected may be why the car is running so poorly ?
Thank you all in advance for any light you might shed on this issue.
P.S. : I have also added a picture of the DTC codes the car is throwing in case ....
You might want to search the forum for P0223. Your codes appear to be related to the throttle body. Those might be oxygen/o2 sensor connectors in the picture.
Hi,
The grey connector (2) could be for the HO2 sensor as suggested, and the black (1) could sit at the side of it on the header rail atop the transmission - behind the big multiway connector. If you can capture the wiring into the back of the connectors we can better identify from the wire colours.
Not sure what's happening here - heater pump rewire?:
or here:
The part-load breather connection to the throttle body elbow doesn't look right - pushfit connector missing/broken?
For completeness, here's a list of the codes:
... but if you're scanning with the TB disconnected then that is likely to be the cause.
On a '97, rough running & spurious codes can be the ECM - has that been inspected/repaired?
