Default Door Handle Switch..???

Common problem here - driver's door glass no longer drops down when the door handle is lifted so that the door can be opened; have to keep the window down just a bit now in order to open/close the door.

Only the driver's side is doing this, passenger side is fine - battery voltage is fine as well.

Did the window reset - and this "fixed it" for about a month but not this time, tried many times over a couple of days.

There must be a switch on the door latch/handle that has failed...is there a diagram somewhere that will show this?...I have not been able to find one.

Thanks.

Try resetting the window memory for that door before you go ripping things apart for, possibly no reason.

The door latch has several switches and we have found in the past a little lubricant will work wonders. Before taking the door apart for the latch try lubricating it. I would use WD40 to free it up then a little silicone. This link will provide a little information on the switches.

Gus thanks for the link...reviewed it carefully.

Next step is to take the door panel off and see if lubricating the latch will do anything....sure hope so.

No need to remove the door panel just yet first spray into the latch mechanism and exercise the door latch by opening and closing the door. The door latches are often overlooked and hardly ever lubricated.

I will try spraying some lubricant into the latch, however neither lifting the exterior nor interior door handle gets the window to drop, so it probably is the electronic module that has failed.

Thanks for the response.

That is correct and lubricating will allow the mechanism to travel properly.

Well...wife took car to dealership this morning and left it there. They called a few hours later to say that there was nothing wrong...just needed to be reset....????

So question on the reset procedure...does the door need to be closed? I did it with the door open last time and it would not reset. Was this why?

I am still going to spray some lubricant into the latch tomorrow....I am sure it could use it.
