XJR and Supercharged Vanden Plas in one garage
I wont get into the long story of how this happened but it did. I went from 1 car to 4 cars and never owning a Jag to having two in two weeks. It did start with a curiosity in the XJR to this forum and trying to help.
Both are 2001 and in great shape.
Red is an XJR with 128k
Blue is the extended wheel base Supercharged VP with 108K. Both incredible in different ways.
Here is 740 HP in sheep's clothes for you:
Parking next to each other it is much easier to tell the differences and the common parts.
Different :
SVP
Chrome mirrors
Chrome trim along the body
Badge on back
Chrome door handles
Chrome trunk trim
On XJR these are all body color
Sits about an Inch higher
Rear door is 5" longer
Driving both are incredibly fast but the SVP is definitely a softer ride and slower in the corners.
From outside you can tell the SVP sits about an inch higher. Though maybe cannot tell in these pics. With the softer and higher suspension the SVP is more of a floater. The overall look of SVP gives it quite an elegant look. My son has a soccer tournament tomorrow and we have talked about me dressing up, pulling in and getting out to open the huge back doors like a proper diver. We will see......
Inside on SVP:
Tray tables!!!!
Rear is 5" bigger in back of VDP, all increase is between the front and back seats
Seats have colored piping
Rear seats are a bit different shape and touch more flat
chrome "Oh Sh-t!" handles
Front seats are flatter across and more plush.
XJR are more angles and bigger side bolsters
As of now I have committed one to someone else and plan to keep one. Though two weeks ago I'd never owned one and I still dream of an x358 so really no telling what will happen. At least in the short term I'm not sure which one will stay, both are fantastic in different ways. Like my kids, different but equal. The SVP is certainly more rare. I can't find one at all for sale. But I tend to gravitate to more sporty cars than luxury ones.
What to do, what to do????????
That is enough for now. Sorry for bad pics, dirty garage, and short explaination. I've got a lot of work to do.

I know how two could be real easy..
After all the years and different cars, trucks, bikes I always wanted a Jag.
Happen to come across my xjr not running and in need of fuel pumps. Well a $1300 for a car that was $70k new how could say no.
Now that it's running and I'm driving it, I can't get enough. There's a couple others around that are cheap and may grap another.
