Default Door locks et al

In my original post on this forum "New to me 2001 xk8: No crank, no start" I posted that because I was clueless about the workings of my XK8, I started off with a "NO CRANK, NO START" issue. I replaced the ignition switch and the KTM and had a mobile mechanic come to my home to program the replaced components.
The car now runs great and now I am ready for the next step.
As recommended by forum members I did not replace the door and trunk locks so now I have two sets of keys. One set to start the car and the other set (original to the car) to lock and unlock the door and trunk. Included with the original set of keys are 2 key fobs.
Is there a way to program the key fobs to lock and unlock the door and trunk given that the KTM was also replaced with the replacement ignition key.as a pair.
How do I go about getting the key fobs to work? Do I need to get a locksmith to come by and do this or is it no longer possible since I replaced the KTM and Ignition switch and key.
Please give me some advice on this matter. Thanks

If it's just the fobs, then the procedure is straightforward. Note that you need to program all the fobs in the one session.

"
Put key in ignition.

Hold headlight flasher back.

Turn ignition key to position 1.

Release headlight flasher and flash headlights 4 times (approximately). Alarm will enter programming mode. This will be confirmed by a flashing led on gearshift.

Program each transmitter (up to 5) by pressing the lock or unlock button on each transmitter so that the total number of presses equal 5.

The led will flash when you press the transmitter button. In other words, the led must flash 5 times to complete the programming.

Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should press the lock or unlock button on that transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will press the first transmitter twice, and three times on the second one. For five transmitters you will operate each transmitter once.

I followed the instructions sent to me by michaelh and I was able to program the remote.
However, when I press the lock, unlock, horn and trunk buttons, I hear the beep but the doors and trunk do not lock or unlock. I just hear the beeps as I press each of the buttons.
Did I do something wrong? or is something else the matter with the system?
Thanks.
