Default Door speaker covers.

Well, I never realized how my suede door inserts distorted my door speakers! So since I didn't want to loose the suede, I figured I could easily find some speaker covers to use and even give it a little vintage XKE feel. Not so easy! It's hard to find a chrome mesh cover under 5". I finally found a stick on cover for a BMW that just fit and had a fairly close look.
Then I had to figure how to attach. Was going to drill four holes and screw in from front but really didnt want to and nothing to screw too!! So I used fine wire and twisted through the center and through the back. (After cutting off suede) its very secure and tight and the growler wheel centers cover the "mechanics"!
Still debating painting mesh black but going to live with it a bit. It really matches my brushed titanium fascia!

Agreed. Very nice custom appearance. So the attachment wires hold it tight enough to prevent it from vibrating at higher volumes?

I was listening to Led Zep II on my home audio system yesterday afternoon and removed the dust grills from my two circa-1975 Altec Voice of the Theatre speakers just to watch the big twin 18-inch woofers pound away as "Ramble On" cued up. Hadn't done that in years. Ah, youth....

Oh yes. The centers of the speakers have a small convex circle so I twisted three wired through them and caught the plast grill on panel. It pulled in the convex circle so it can't budge. And the growler wheel centers actually serve a a purpose to hide the wires. No buzz at all!!
