Default Door taking a few seconds to realise it's been closed

Hi,

I've got a 1998 XK8 that I bought a couple of months ago. A couple of days ago I started having a new problem. When I close the driver side door, it takes a few seconds before it realises and it closes the window. The 'driver door open' warning stays on the dash until the window goes up, and I can't lock the door until it realises.

Any ideas what might be causing the delay? It's not a big problem at the minute to wait a few seconds, but I'm worried it's going to get worse.

Welcome to the forum mrobinson,

My first thought would be sticking microswitch in the door latch assembly. If so, it can sometimes be given a (temporary) extra lease of life with WD40.

After that a door module or harness issue.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I cleaned it out and lubed it up and it looks like it's fixed it.

Thanks again.

Most find it's only a temporary fix.

From Jaguar the micro switch is only £14.50 and US members have found other lower cost sources.
