hello all, after 4 hours of disassembling my door, getting the ball joint off without breaking the plastic, etc, I realized the door lock actuator I had ordered was misrepresented, and I actually received a passenger side one. original item clearly stated " left door driver actuator" in the ad, but it is the passenger one. It is pristine looking, but no help to me, is it possible to swap the components from the passenger to driver? or do they operate completely differently.
my driver one is busted I believe, having all kinds of issues, alarm going off, no locking, just that window acting up having to reset every day, sometimes window even dying, puddle light on "door open" code etc, i believe slight battery drain also. battery voltage is great, it's not that, just all linked to this door.
thanks for reading.
I have had the lock out so many times I can get it all out in 6 min. The trick to getting the ball joint off is a 3 ft crowbar (pribar ) you put one end right in behind the black plastic and give the top end a yank and it pops it off.
To put it back you put a lump of foam about 3 in cube up the top to hold the rod steady and put the black plastic in position over the ball. then bring your crowbar in horizontal and push it back/
I suggest getting the correct unit though I have changed my solenoids for a cheap $20 controller/solenoid/remote kit and I have no problems.
