Default Drrrr! Rocker rot!

So I went to check my lug tightness since I had my wheels road force balanced, and I noticed that my rocker right in front of the right rear wheel finally succumbed to the Pennsylvania roads winter treatments. I started poking at it and yes it was pretty bad. I’m no professional, but I’ve done some repairs before soI decided to make my own patch panel by hand, got it pretty close, and started putting it together when it started raining. Drrrrrrr! Hopefully I’ll be able to get it finished this weekend!

This is a big problem in the uk, and a frightening one at that !..
I'm facing similar repairs to my sill/rocker's in the near future.

Default Damn Tin Worm is global

Well I feel your pain. I had a rust problem exactly at the same location. See my recent thread below for details.

Yes I did see your post on the repair. I guess it's a global issue 😟

Well went out to finish today and as soon as I started it started a REALLY wet snow. Argh! Also probably going to have to cut higher due to as soon as I strike arc on a couple of spots, the factory metal disappears. Drrrrrrr! It looked, felt and sounded solid, but it must be a little bit thin. Add into the fact of laying on my side and having wet snow and a couple of small spalds going down my ear. I decided to give up for the moment. Smh

This is scary... P.O. installed the 2005 rocker panels on my car. I think I should remove it and check.

Yeah it's always scary when stuff is covered. Sometimes it's ok, other times you find Swiss cheese

I'm hopeful that since my car has absolutely zero rust anywhere else, even the exhaust, that it is probably fine.

this is a lot of work to keep rust from coming back, but what I do in the American great lakes rust belt is flood area's with rustoleum paint.you'll have to remove inside panels for access but it doe's a great job.i paint doors [inside seem 4 inches],flood over rear wheel wells and front 1/4s,and plug all drain holes under rocker then fill rockers to top with paint, around 4 gallons then drain back into emty cans.this is allot better than rustproofing cause it gets into everything.P.S.i use a cardboard gutter, steve
