Default DSC System Fault ???

I'm getting an intermittent DSC System Fault that I can clear by switching ignition off and restarting. It seems to happen only after I have punched the throtte a bit (well, maybe more than just a "bit".) Other threads talk about dirty sensors and pedel position sensor problems, but I'm curious if tire wear can be an issue. I do have one rear tire that is worn more than the other, so...??? Should I not waste time chasing this until after I replace the tires? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

that 'other' tire would have to be considerably worse, more than a few 32nds difference. Maybe a new vs a bald one would, but that's just me speculating on engineering tolerances.

Sensor cleaning takes very little time and costs you a few drops of dish detergent and some of your time. Can't get much better than that in trying to diagnose an issue w/o the use of an advanced scanner.

Are you sure you're not breaking traction when punching the throttle, causing the DSC light to illuminate?

Thanks for the input, Matt. When the light comes on from breaking traction, it goes off automatically, right? In the instances I'm mentioning here, the message stays illuminated until the ignition is turned off.

But you're right - cleaning the sensors is a good idea anyway, especially considering the volume of brake dust this thing generates.

The worn tire could be BECAUSE of the traction issue. When I bought my car one of the rear tires was beyond bald. The other one was thin, but not nearly as bad as the first one. I got new tires right away, and then I started getting the DCS error. Every time the DSC error would come on I would hear the anti-lock brakes kicking in first. I think the wheel speed sensor on the other wheel was dirty and causing the ABS to reduce the braking power to that wheel. That meant the other wheel was doing more of the braking, therefore its tire wore out sooner. Cleaning the wheel speed sensors fixed the DSC issue, and the new tires have seemed to be wearing evenly over the last 8000 miles.
