Default EGR valve temp blocked off.. engine light?

This weekend things didn't go as planned. All I wanted to do was change the supercharger coupler. In the process I broke a Norma coupler T fitting on a coolant hose, broke the coolant pipe from the reservoir to the t-stat housing, and then found the exhaust leak. I thought the exhaust leak was going to be from one of the seals on the EGR pipe. I was wrong. The pipe was cracked in two places. So, needing to have the car back together by Monday I blocked off both the exhaust port and the valve port.

From searching on here and according to JTIS the EGR valve operation is checked by a MAP sensor, which this car does have. However, after getting it all back together and taking it for a 20 minute drive the engine light has yet to come on indicating a EGR valve failure. Anyone know when the ECU checkes the EGR valve's operation?

Besides all that I replaced the coupler, which showed wear. However, the rattling sound is still present. Looks like its time to replace the snout bearings.
