Electric radiator Fans
My radiator fans do not seem to be coming on in traffic and the car gets hot as a result. Any way to verify workingoperation? Any common points to them not turning on when the car is hot? I assume there is a thermal rely somewhere, but where?

RE: Electric radiator Fans
The fans can be checked by:
1) Starting engine and turning on the AC. The fans should start shortly thereafter, 1 or two minutes.
2) Checking the fuses. They are in the fusebox on the drivers side (US) just in front of the strut tower, position 2 and 4 from the engine, 30A, in the left row.
I had the fuses blow last summer but haven't found the cause, as yet. As you probably know, the temp guage doesn't show a rise of heat, just goes from normal to hot instantly. After that incident my tool kit in the trunk has a selection of fuses, especially 30 Amp.
If it isn't possible to pull off and shut down "immediately", turn the temperature up to max and fan on full to draw heat away from the engine.
Good luck.

RE: Electric radiator Fans
Just checked mine and both fans come on in about 15 seconds after turning on the AC. Ours is a MY 2000 and that is how they have always worked. If your MY is different the fan operation may be different also, if not, the fans may have seperate temperature sensors and one is faulty. Possibly someone can answer that for us.
Our fans will run after shutdown only if the weather is quite hot, and then only for about 1/2 to 1 minute.
