Default Embarrassing moment

I pulled up at a set of lights today and alongside me came a black XKR. I turned to give the driver an acknowledging wave when I remembered I was driving my wife's 21 year old Fiat Punto Cabrio. Still, I dropped the window to enjoy the engine note as we pulled away!

Had you purchased your wife a Jag to replace the Fiat, this would not have happened!

Seriously, I know exactly what you mean. I wave to other Jag drivers when I'm behind the wheel of my wife's VW Golf.

How did you get a Fiat body to last 21 years?

The Fiat body seems better protected than the Jag. There is no rust or corrosion on it anywhere. However, being a 94 Cabrio, it was built by Bertone rather than Fiat.

The dealership I worked at in the 80s and 90s sold new Fiats. They would rust on the showroom floor, and sometimes were repainted before they were sold.

I had an X1/9, and the body was my only concern, other than a freewheeling reverse gear, that needed to be replaced every 65,000 miles. I loved that car.....Mike
