Question engine SN

i just want to know, if SN is 9805050925, so that might be an aj26 or aj27?

Hi, from what I understand the engine number you have translates to it coming off the production line on the 5th of May 1998 at 09.25 am.
9805050925
98=1998
05=May
05=5th
0925=time
Not sure if it's an aj26 or aj27 but I'll see if I can find out

The XKR used the AJ26 through '99. The normal answer is to look for the VVT valves on the valve covers but the 'R' doesn't have them. Look for the cruise control unit next to the throttle body. The AJ27 handled cruise in software.
