Default Engine and transmission

Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me. I had to get an air filter box for my 1997 XK8 and found a wrecker that just got a 1997 XK8 in. Now I'm thinking of more items I can get from this car. I have an early serial number 1997 XK8 coupe, pre SN 003300. Will any engine and transmission from a 1997 XK8 coupe work in my car? The serial number of the donor car is above 003300 but both are coupes. The wrecker says that he has the paperwork with the car and says the engine has been rebuilt and I can get the engine and transmission for $1200.- Canadian. I'm thinking that they will but before I spend the cash I figured I'd ask. I'm going to keep the car until I croak and have the space so I was thinking of scooping these up as well as any switches, modules etc that work with mine. Thanks for your thoughts.

They will definitely work. The ECU, ABS and other modules would be good spares, also. Check the VCAT label near the spare tire and compare numbers.

hehe - how much storage space do you have? If you're a 'lifer' then just have the car sent round...

Seriously, agree with RJ on the modules - particularly the 97 ECM. Unobtainium interior trim parts, headlamp assemblies, etc.

If the motor is a reman. it should carry the green sticker, or a dealership may have the history if you can get the VIN off the donor.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. I've been checking the parts lists stickies to see what parts cross over, some modules will and some won't depending on if it's a coupe or convertible, serial number range etc. Quite confusing for an old wood tick like me. The donor car is about 500 miles away so next I'll be looking at shipping costs otherwise I'll use the company flat bed to go get parts. I would love to get the whole car but the old lady would kill me if I parked it in the back yard and tore it apart. I built a large shed to keep spare parts in and as long as she can't see them she doesn't complain about it.
